Hello! I’m Elyse, an Enneagram lover and student of spiritual formation. In the middle of 2020 I was miserable, working a job I didn’t like because I believed I “should” because that’s what my college degree was in. Jesus graciously showed me that it was time to set some boundaries and discover what He actually designed me for, not just what I thought I “should” be doing. I took a big step of faith (supported by encouragement from my parents) and enrolled in Beth McCord’s Become an Enneagram Coach program (and earned my coaching certification in December 2020). I’m happy to say I finally feel like I’m in my zone & doing deep, beautiful work that I love.
I’m so grateful for the way the Spirit of God has guided me to know myself better using the Enneagram. I mistyped myself for several years, and when I finally realized that I’m a Type One, my growth accelerated because I finally started to understand my motivations behind how I live day to day and how I see the world, other people, and God. I learned that Type Ones are idealists who see the world through a lens of what they “should” do - that affects me even in the way I perceive “shoulds” of the spiritual life. Now that I understand that lens, I’m able to step out of it, asking God not “what should I do,” but “what is the right next thing for me?”
